






Children are busier than ever. They spend the day at school, and some are part of an extended education program. When not at school, they participate in sports, church, and other activities, leaving little downtime. It's no wonder that few children take the time to read for enjoyment. Books must be compelling, with characters that kids can relate to.
Nickerbacher loves to make people laugh. He wants to make a career as a comedian, so he practices his routine on Princess Gwendolyn with great success. She roars at his antics, especially the imitation of his papa. Laughter is music to his ears, compelling Nickerbacher to write effective material.
Nickerbacher and his father have a strained relationship. Papa Dragon wants Nickerbacher to have a traditional job so he can be safe. But Nickerbacher intends to break new ground. Their love grows stronger by the end of the story because they learn to understand a perspective different from their own.
